Gov. Beshear Announces $3.5 Million in Waste Grants
FRANKFORT, KY - June 25, 2010 - (RealEstateRama) -- Gov. Steve Beshear today announced 38 recycling and 10 household hazardous waste grants totaling over $3.5 million to expand recycling in Kentucky, reduce the amount of solid waste going into landfills, and sustain the environmental management of hazardous waste from homes, including electronic scrap and mercury.

Governor Announces Homelessness Prevention and Housing Program Funding
FRANKFORT, KY - September 24, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) -- Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear, along with Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) Chief Executive Officer Richard L. McQuady, today announced the recipients of Kentucky’s Housing and Emergency Assistance Reaching The Homeless (KY HEARTH) Program grant funds. This initiative is part of the national American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 and the federal Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program. Lexington, Louisville and Covington received direct allocations. KHC administers the balance of the state’s portion.KY HEARTH helps prevent individuals and families from becoming homeless and helps those who are experiencing homelessness to be quickly re-housed and stabilized. Through the ARRA, 47 projects proposed by nonprofit agencies and local governments across the state are receiving a total of $11,607,352 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

FRANKFORT, KY - September 15, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) -- Energy efficiency and increased use of renewable energy sources in Kentucky got a substantial boost this week from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The Commonwealth has been awarded $10,427,000 in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program.Funds from the program will support projects that create jobs, support energy efficiency and conservation in working toward the goals of achieving Kentucky’s comprehensive energy plan.
