Whitfield Fights to Protect Kentucky Farmers from Federal Overreach

WASHINGTON, D.C. – January 14, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, voted today in support of S.J. Res. 22, a bill that would block the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from moving forward with the burdensome Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) Rule, which drastically expand federal jurisdiction under the Clean Water Act. Whitfield issued the following statement upon passage.

“President Obama’s administration has expanded the overreach of the federal government far beyond any administration in history, and well past the parameters of our Constitution. The WOTUS Rule would go so far as regulating seasonally wet areas, irrigation ditches, man-made ponds, and puddles on family farms in Kentucky. This overreach is completely unacceptable, and the president should sign this repeal immediately. I will continue to fight against the administration’s heavy-handed attempts to harm our farmers and landowners, and remain committed to ensuring our private property rights are preserved.”
