Whitfield Announces More than $2.8 Million in Federal Grants for Area Airports

WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 13, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Representative Ed Whitfield (KY-01) is pleased to announce grants to three area airports from the Federal Aviation Administration through the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The Russellville-Logan County Airport will receive $2,050,000.  The grant will provide federal funding for thefinal phase to extend Runway 06 by 500 feet to meet the operational needs of the airport.

The Russell County Airport in Jamestown will receive $674,344. The grant will provide federal funding for the construction of a 9,685 square foot hangar building.

The Muhlenberg County Airport in Greenville will receive $103,500. The grant will provide federal funding for a 2,136 foot partial parallel taxiway to eliminate the need for aircraft to back-taxi on the runway.

“I am pleased to see Russellville-Logan, Russell County, and Muhlenberg County Airports receive these important federal funds,” said Whitfield.  “From construction to completion, these projects will provide the opportunity for growth and development within these communities and benefit the surrounding region as well.”
