Whitfield Announces More than $100K in Federal Assistance to Area Firefighters

WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 3, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Representative Ed Whitfield (KY-01), is pleased to announce grants to three area fire departments from the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.

The Fairview Fire Department in Pembroke will receive $76,208.00. The Earlington Fire Department will receive $24,428.00, and the Livingston County EMS in Smithland will receive $5,324.00.  These grant will provide federal funding toward much-needed emergency response equipment, personal protective equipment, firefighting and emergency vehicles, and training under the operations and safety program.

“I am pleased to see the Fairview and Earlington Fire Departments, along with the Livingston County EMS, receive these federal funds,” said Whitfield.  “These fire prevention and safety projects will provide more security and service in emergency situations within these communities, and benefit the surrounding areas as well.”
