Lending Partners Enable Kentuckians to Secure Safe Home Loans

Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC), the state housing finance agency, recognized the top lending partners in affordable mortgage loans at the Third Annual Lender Recognition Luncheon today in Frankfort.

Kentuckians who receive a loan from KHC work with one of 225 lending partner banks and mortgage companies located in communities throughout the state.  KHC offers loans for first-time buyers, previous home buyers and current homeowners wanting to refinance.  Since its creation in 1972, over 82,000 Kentucky households have become homeowners by obtaining a KHC loan.

Brenda Walker, senior director of Kentucky Housing’s Homeownership Department, said, “Kentucky Housing relies on its lending partners to offer our home loan products to Kentuckians.  We appreciate the commitment our top producers have demonstrated to providing affordable mortgage options by using our loan products.”

Kentucky Housing Corporation offers at or below-market-rate home loans, at a 30-year fixed interest rate including conventional, Federal Housing Administration, Veterans Administration and Rural Housing Services loans.  Several down payment assistance programs are available to help home buyers afford closing costs and down payments.  Free homeownership education and financial counseling are also available.

“During this time of a challenging mortgage market, KHC’s lending partners know they are providing their customers with a home loan they can trust,” said Richard L. McQuady, Kentucky Housing Corporation’s interim chief executive officer.

“We appreciate the efforts and dedication of all our lenders,” he said.  “These partnerships are the key to successful homeownership for many Kentucky households.”

Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC), created by the 1972 General Assembly, is a self-supporting, public corporation of the Commonwealth of Kentucky administratively attached to the Finance and Administration Cabinet.  A portion of Kentucky Housing's funds are derived from the interest earned through the sale of tax-exempt mortgage revenue bonds.

From these proceeds, Kentucky Housing has made homeownership possible for over 82,000 Kentucky families.  Kentucky Housing also operates through the receipt of fees for administering federal programs including rental assistance that makes safe, decent, affordable housing available to more than 27,000 low-income Kentuckians.
