Kentucky Housing Corporation Announces Homeowner Occupied Repair Affair Funding

-

Kentucky Housing Corporation has announced the latest recipients to receive funding from the Homeowner Occupied Repair Affair program.  Fifteen agencies will receive a total of $147,000 to help meet the housing repair needs of low-income Kentuckians.

A Repair Affair is typically a blitz repair program that is usually completed over a one- to two-week time frame where houses in a neighborhood receive cosmetic improvements, such as paint, door repair, window replacement or glazing, gutters and/or roof repair, etc.  Repairs can also include mobility accessibility issues or repairing living accommodations for elderly or persons with a disability to make housing more accessible.

Applicants may apply for up to $10,000 to assist in funding their local repair affair program.  Applicants are required to match at least 50 percent of the requested Repair Affair funds.  For example:  If an organization is requesting $10,000 in Repair Affair assistance, then the organization would be required to also provide at least $5,000 in matching resources.

Funding allocations for this year’s Repair Affair program are listed below.  For more information about the Repair Affair program, contact Kentucky Housing Corporation’s Crystal Harrod toll-free in Kentucky at (800) 633-8896 or (502) 564-7630, extension 704; TTY 711; or e-mail charrod (at) kyhousing (dot) org.

Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC), created by the 1972 General Assembly, is a self-supporting, public corporation of the Commonwealth of Kentucky administratively attached to the Finance and Administration Cabinet.  A portion of Kentucky Housing's funds are derived from the interest earned through the sale of tax-exempt mortgage revenue bonds.

From these proceeds, Kentucky Housing has made homeownership possible for over 82,000 Kentucky families.  Kentucky Housing also operates through the receipt of fees for administering federal programs including rental assistance that makes safe, decent, affordable housing available to more than 27,000 low-income Kentuckians.
