Kentucky Arts Council sponsors conference on community building through the arts
FRANKFORT, KY – May 2, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — The Kentucky Arts Council is sponsoring a colloquium for local leaders who are interested in using the arts as a community-building tool.
Creating Vibrant Communities through the Arts will feature sessions with regionally and nationally recognized presenters exploring best practices and practical planning tools for innovation and growth. The colloquium is presented in conjunction with the Indiana Arts Commission, Ball State University’s Building Better Communities, the Ohio Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
The colloquium will take place on June 6-7 at Hanover College in Hanover, Ind. Session topics include cultural districts, community engagement, arts business incubators, rural and urban revitalization and community planning.
“The arts are recognized as a significant area of interest in attracting new residents and businesses to communities across the Commonwealth,” said Lori Meadows, arts council executive director. “I would encourage local government leaders, educators, civic leaders, and community business leaders, all who are vital to providing arts activities and services to their communities, to attend.”
