FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 22, 2007) – Investors of all ages, experience and financial resources will be able to obtain useful advice at a free seminar co-sponsored by the Kentucky Office of Financial Institutions (OFI) at the Louisville Free Public Library on Oct. 27.
The American Library Association (ALA) and the Investor Protection Trust (IPT) selected the Louisville library system as one of 20 around the United States to participate in the Investor Education @ your library® program. The seminar responds to a national need for more investor education. It was developed and will be conducted by the Evelyn Brust Financial Research and Education Foundation.
“Investor Education @ your library® will equip both new and experienced investors with the intellectual armor they need to invest wisely and avoid investment scams,” said Don Blandin, president and CEO of IPT. “America’s public libraries are trusted resources well positioned to provide quality investor education information.”
As part of the program, the Louisville Free Public Library received a grant to host a free seminar and to enhance its collection on investor education. Following the lecture, participants may attend financial wellness workshops on such important issues as determining retirement needs and setting personal financial goals.
This noncommercial seminar includes material provided by IPT, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, certified public accountants and the PBS Television series, “MoneyTrack.” Participants will each receive a copy of “5 Keys to Investing Success” from IPT and Kiplinger.

Investor Education @ your library® is part of The Campaign for America’s Libraries, a multi-year public awareness and advocacy effort sponsored by the ALA that showcases libraries as places of opportunity where information is affordable, available and accessible to all people.
