FAIR HOUSING CENTER AT THE WLOU SUMMERFEST ON JUNE 22

WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 21, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights will host a Fair Housing Center on Saturday, June 22, during the radio station WLOU Summerfest at Chickasaw Park in Louisville, Ky., from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (EDT). The event is open to the public.

Commission representatives will be on hand to discuss potential discrimination complaints, to distribute important information pertaining to employment, housing and public accommodation civil rights and to promote health family fun with Kentucky Commission on Human Rights Fair Housing super-size balloons and a Fair Housing Bounce House for kids.

The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights will welcome to its tent guest representatives from the Metropolitan Disabilities Coalition and will also distribute educational materials from the American Civil Liberties Union and the Louisville Women in Transition non-profit organization.

The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights is the state government agency that enforces the Kentucky Civil Rights Act and the U.S. Civil Rights Act. These laws make discrimination illegal. The Kentucky Civil Rights Act protects people from discrimination based on the protected classes of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, family status, and tobacco-smoking status. These are protected with varying provisions in the areas of employment, public accommodations, housing, and financial transactions.
